At present, due to the wood products sold to most countries in Europe and North America are required to have FSC certification mark, while some FSC certified products can also enjoy preferential import tax rate policy, more and more large retail chain sellers in Europe and the United States have begun to require suppliers to have FSC forest certification, under this trend, our company also applied for FSC certification audit.
Through the active cooperation of the whole plant staff, on April 1, 2022, our company officially obtained the FSC forest Certification certificate issued by the Soil Association Certification Limited.
What is FSC Certification?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), referred to as FSC certification.
FSC is a non-profit international organization founded in 1993 by the World Wide Fund for Nature in Toronto, Canada. At the founding Conference, 130 delegates from 25 countries and other broadly representative organizations, such as foresters' organizations, social and indigenous organizations, the timber industry and international environmental organizations, took part. FSC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization with its headquarters in Bonn, Germany.
The FSC aims to promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management activities, and it promotes voluntary, independent, third-party certification as the primary means of achieving these goals. Its mission is to bring people around the world together to address forest damage caused by illegal logging and to promote responsible management and development of forests. FSC certification is therefore the entry threshold for the World Forest Trade Network (GFTN).
Why FSC certification? What do FSC certified companies get?
1.FSC certification reflects social responsibility, enhances brand image and meets customer requirements
FSC certification, in addition to reflecting the company's compliance with strict social and environmental standards, I believe that more companies choose FSC certification because of the requirements of buyers or customers. At present, many well-known international enterprises and consumer brands involved in the production and sale of certified products regard FSC certification as one of the indicators to fulfill social responsibility and practice green economy. More and more well-known brands have also begun to make commitments to sourcing certified wood/paper products to promote sustainable development of the supply chain, assume social responsibility, enhance corporate reputation and brand image.
2. FSC certification avoids and reduces market access risks
FSC certification can effectively reduce and avoid legal risks in international trade. At present, the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) and the Lacey Act of the United States have specific requirements for the legality of wood products entering their markets, and the FSC standard contains the verification requirements for the legality of wood sources and the legality of trade processes. Therefore, by participating in the FSC certification, the relevant legal risks can be effectively avoided to ensure that the product can be exported smoothly.
